The Republic is part of a local mining coalition called Orca's Inc, which operates a moon mining operation across the system of Jakri High-sec, Aphi High-sec, and Koona High-sec. The coalition always has several belts available and a standing fleet. The setup especially caters to running AFK Orcas or similar. In order to start mining, you should:
Before mining the belts operated by Orca's Inc., you should check the in-game chat channel. Here you will find information about current belts, their age, and a link to the standing fleet. Regardless of the age of the belt you are mining, you should abide by the following:
Claim your rock
Park your ship close to the rock that you are mining. This allows everyone to see, regardless of graphics settings, which rocks is yours. It remains claimed even in the case that your lasers turn off for a while. Each character can claim one rock.
One asteroid at a time
You are only allowed to mine one asteroid at a time. Both your drones and your strip miners should be mining the same rock, and you are not allowed to spread them out across the belt.
Don't mine other's rocks
You are not allowed to mine rocks that have already been claimed by another capsuleer. There are plenty of belts available for you to find a vacant rock that you can mine.
The following rules depend on the age of the belt you are mining. Each day, a new belt will be available from 18:00 Eve time. These are called "Day 1" belts for the next 24 hours and progress so on. A fresh belt will contain rocks of the following sizes: 572K, 382K, and 192K m3.
Depending on the age of the belt, the following rules apply:
Day 1 belt (A fresh belt)
Rocks with the sizes of 572K and 382 can only be mined by orcas and porpoises. Barges and exhumers are NOT allowed to mine these rocks for the first 24 hours, but can mine the available rocks that are 191K in size using A-type crystals.
Day 2 or 3 belts
No restrictions apply. All rocks can be mined by any ship and you are free to use B-type crystals as well. The general rules above still apply, so you should claim your rock and only mine rock at a time. The goal is to get as much of the ore mined as possible.
Jackpot belts
If a moon extraction produces glistening ore, the belt is a jackpot. These will be pinged on the Discord. Here the same rules as a Day 1 belt apply with additional restrictions. You are only allowed to use T1 or ORE strip miners and T1 drones to prevent waste.
All ore mined as part of the Orcas Inc. coalition is subject to a 15% tax, which is automatically tracked. The tax pays for fuel, protection of the structures and further development of the partnership.
When initially joining an Orcas Inc. fleet, you should sign up for the taxation system. You do this by:
We recommend that you make a habit of paying your taxes at least once a month. You can at all times find your taxes due in the system, which updates once a day. You pay by:
Ensure that you always enter "TAXMAN", when you pay your taxes. Otherwise your payment will not be registered, and you will have to contact an Orca's Inc. director to have your payment applied manually.
Failing to pay your taxes will have consequences and you risk your ships getting forcefully removed from the belt. The alliance will not help you diplomatically or otherwise, if this happens due to lack of payment. You will also risk expulsion from the alliance as a consequence.
